Our Homes Today

Conservation issues are in the spotlight and focus has fallen on using solar energy, a subject close to the hearts of Sola60 Auckland owners Grant and Teresa Brown.

The local couple have been installing solar units for hot water heating and swimming pools for the past nine years and can attest to the monetary savings and the sense of using the sun’s infinite source of free energy.

“It is estimated that each home solar water system installed saves New Zealand 1.4 tonnes of Co2 emissions annually,” Grant says. “By going solar and harnessing a clean, fully renewable resource, households can reduce their carbon footprint and help cut New Zealand’s production of greenhouse gases.

“A solar hot water heating system can also provide households with 50-70% of its hot water needs which will slash power bills and significantly reduce reliance on electricity or gas.”

$1000 Government grant now available

And right now a government grant of $1000 is available for hot water heating packages (conditions apply). This can be taken as a cash-back option when purchasing an approved package or can be used to cover interest if a loan is taken for purchase and installation.

Now is also the time to think about solar heating for swimming pools resulting in extended pool use and more comfortable water temperatures.

“With a solar unit in place pool owners could be swimming right now,” Teresa says. “Installing a solar system means swimming pool use can be virtually doubled with no heating costs or maintenance required.”

Established for more than 25 years Sola60 systems have been designed to meet the needs of Kiwi homes and are manufactured in New Zealand using premium local and European components.  All Sola60 systems carry a 7 years warranty and the company is a funding member of the Solar Industries Association.

Sola60 Auckland is handily located in East Tamaki where clients can view displays and are provided with a wealth of information regarding all solar panel use.
