ART enthusiasts should have their creative palates at the ready in preparation for a feast of artistic works from near and far.
New Zealand’s premier visual arts event, Auckland Art Fair returns to the city’s Viaduct Harbour from May 1-3 with a contingent of New Zealand and Australia’s leading galleries.
The event offers snapshots of current contemporary trans-Tasman art practice. Artists and their representing galleries present work in the form of 40 solo and curator exhibitions, a sculpture court and a commissioned installation for an estimated 12,000 visitors.
The event is an opportunity for artists and audiences to interact with a series of commissioned essays by leading writers and curators to stimulate discussion. Keynote lecturer Don Thompson, author of ‘The $12M Stuffed Shark’ will offer a global perspective on the economics of contemporary art.
Lectures and panel discussions by a host of local and international art commentators, along with guided tours and artist talks are part of the three-day event.
The Auckland Art Fair has been coordinated by the NZ Contemporary Art Trust.
