Shed 16 Garden & Gift Centre, Cnr Jesmond and Karaka Rds, Drury, Ph (09) 294-9340; 0211-823-030.
It’s easy to be inspired at boutique nursery, Shed 16 Garden and Gift Centre located just a minute or two off the motorway at Drury.
This little “Eden” is a showcase of nature’s finest thanks to the vision, creativity and hard work of owner Denise Jeffery whose long time nursery experience was vital in establishing the centre three years ago.
She and a team of willing workers transformed the once idle and overgrown property into a thriving garden centre that attracts people from all over Auckland. Today there is everything from vegetable and flower seedlings through to annuals, perennials, ground covers, popular natives, exotics succulents, ferns, shrubs and much more.
“We also have an excellent selection of large trees and palms to give instant screening and maturity to a garden and, of course, seasonal plants come and go all the time.”
In particular, Denise has gone out of her way to source special requests and give people sensible gardening advice. Today, her rapport with regulars is so strong that many treat the garden centre like a second home popping in and out for this that and the other thing to make their own gardens and homes ‘look FAB!”
In addition to growing the centre’s plant and landscaping products and making it the kind of place visitors love to wander, Denise has introduced a range of stunning indoor and outdoor accessories – beautiful glassware, rustic gnomes, water features, garden furniture, exquisite pots, decorative ornaments and cute chickens to name just a few.
In fact, it’s hard to say what visitors love the best – the wealth of healthy, living plants or the fabulous array of garden art and gorgeous décor pieces for the home. Indeed, visitors wandering amongst the lush plant life at Shed 16 never fail to find something special. For example, the ‘incredible edibles’ – mulberries, cranberries blueberries, tamarillo trees and cape gooseberries – are always in demand. Then there is the huge array of fragrant herbs – “culinary efforts will really improve when adding fresh herbs plucked from outside the back door,” Denise says.
Without doubt Shed 16 Garden and Gift Centre is a ‘must visit’ nursery that has that extra special ingredient gardeners are always seeking.
