Most homeowners want to make the best use of outdoor living space, ensuring it is a total extension of the home sheltered from wind, rain or burning sun. If this is your dream, Fresco Shades has all the answers.

Fresco Shades specialises in creating flexible, weather protection options to maximise indoor/outdoor flow and allow customers to enjoy the outdoors all year round, no matter what weather comes their way.

More than a decade ago, director Richard Cummins saw a need in the market for custom-made canopies and shade sails for al fresco loving homeowners.

“For many people it was frustrating top have invested in beautiful outdoor furniture and barbecues, only to use them for a few months of the year,” says Richard.

“We set about making stylish, arch-shaped, weather-proof awnings which not only look attractive but will withstand challenging conditions. Later we added dropside or zipped PVC curtains to create outdoor rooms that gave homeowners the freedom to spill outside regardless of the elements. Better, still the addition ‘room’ came at a fraction of the cost of building.”

Fresco awnings use translucent, architectural grade PVC, tensioned to be drum tight over a strong and durable powder-coated frame. They are stable, stylish and come in a wide range of colours to suit interior and exterior décor.

“Light filters through the French-made PVC which offers the same sun protection as a sheet of metal. The fabric carries a five-year warranty and is expected to last for approximately 15 years, at which time it can be easily replaced,” says Richard.

Fresco Shades’ system of drop-side curtains come in clear PVC, mesh, or both. These allow even greater weather resistance.  In cold blustery conditions the curtains can be zipped to providing a cosy conservatory type environment then in hot, rainy weather the internal doors to the house can be left open without the weather intruding, a real advantage when entertaining large groups of friends.

The clear curtains can be manually rolled from the bottom, or Fresco Shades will install a roller mechanism and winding handle. Louvres can also be included to increase ventilation.

Should privacy or further protection from the sun be required, sunscreen mesh banners can be attached over the clear drop-sides. These can be positioned to control early morning or late afternoon glare, and ensure total privacy too. Black or white meshes are popular colour choices.

Every canopy, shade and screen is custom-made for client requirements, ensuring the ideal shape and size is achieved.  The arch can span an eight-metre width and be any length, making them ideal for residential, commercial and educational facilities. School and early child hood centres have found them ideal for outdoor shade.

“We’re finding that many customers start off with a Fresco canopy, and as budget allows or weather conditions require, they add shades, dropsides and screens,” says Richard.

“We will advise on the best option for individual outdoor living environment and once a quote is accepted, canopies and curtains can be made and installed within three weeks.”
