Come rain or shine property maintenance just keeps on going on – winter slime, summer grime, it all needs to cleaning away if property owners want their homes or commercial investments to looks good and retain value.
Whether battling lichen, moss, dust and dirt, preparing for a new paint or clearing weeds from edges and between cobbles, Dave Hawke from Best Waterblasters is the man to call.
“Come the warmer weather many homeowners go into spring-cleaning more and that usually includes house washing and de-sliming drives, pathways, decks, walls, surfeits and more,” says Dave. “We specialise in removing mould, slime, lichen and general winter grime from most surfaces, including cobbles, timber decking and exposed aggregate, looking like new again.”
Best Waterblasters specialised equipment includes a Whirl Away machine which instantly removes black grime and won’t leave streaks. When it comes to paint surfaces, Dave provides skilled care and sound knowledge to ensure paintwork and timber remain in tip-top condition during the cleaning process.
“We use both soft washing and water blasting depending on the condition of the paintwork and whether one is preparing to repaint,” Dave says. “Our aim is to extend the life of exterior coatings and, by washing paintwork once a year, the paint’s life expectancy will, generally increase by 20-25%. It’s definitely cheaper to wash regularly than repaint.”
When the dry weather is imminent Dave says the time is right to coat surfaces with non-toxic, environmentally friendly sprays, which kill plant life and help remove built-up dirt. Dead moss, mould and lichen will continue to wash away with every rainfall and the sprays also inhibit further growth.
For sparkling paths and driveways, Dave recommends treating moss and mould with the appropriate herbicide and he’ll return in 10 days to clean away all dead plant matter and give the affected area a final ‘once-over’
Of course, as summer sets in it’s not slime homeowners need to contend with by dust, pollens, and airborne dirt including black grime from exhaust fumes. Regular house cleaning will keep exteriors attractive and is a preventative measure when it comes to more extensive maintenance.
“Regardless of what kind of exterior clean-up job we are doing all we need is an outside tap,” Dave says.. “Homeowners don’t need to be present but they must ensure all doors and windows are securely closed. The reality is, with nothing to do themselves, they’ll return to gleaming surfaces, which are also safer for those prone to falls such as children and the elderly.
And “best” of all it takes only a phone call to organise a time for Dave to give a quote and do the job.
